Message from Emily:
I hope you all have had a great summer and are all relaxed and restored for the new year! For our loyal members, as a fun and helpful event, I am hosting a day trip to Tustin in Orange County to participate in a stand-down at their local reserve center. Stand-downs are events hosted by the VA and other government organizations where veterans and other volunteers give food, health services, clothes, shelter, and benefits counseling to homeless veterans in the area.
The stand-down will be from Friday, September 27th to Sunday, September 29th from 7am-6pm. We would only do it one day that weekend and could try to do from 7am-2pm, but I feel that if we are to be serious about our commitment we should be there the whole time. The task they have open for us right now is to look-out for suspicious activity and help maintain order; we would just be walking around with walkie-talkies and making sure everything's okay.
The address to the event is Tustin Army Reserve Center, 2345 Barranca Parkway.
Please write your preferred day to go and if you can give us a ride. We will be figuring out rides beforehand.
This event will be a great way to begin our year helping veterans and supporting our cause. We would be making a big impact on the community and could learn a lot. Hope to see many of you there, and get pumped for our exciting new year!
